Abstract
Bu çalışmada öğretmenlerin mesleki etik ilkeleri benimseme ve meslektaşlarının mesleki etik ilkelere uyma durumlarına ilişkin görüşleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmada tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma evrenini 2013-2014 öğretim yılında İzmir ili merkez ilçelerinde bulunan Anadolu ve Meslek Liseleri oluşturmuştur. Çalışmada 118'i erkek, 258'i kadın olmak üzere 376 lise öğretmeninin ölçeği değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. In this study, the teachers' opinions about their adaptation to the professional ethics principles and their colleagues' compliance with the professional ethics principles were analyzed. The screening model was used in this research. The study universe involved the Anatolian and Vocational High Schools at the center districts of the province İzmir in the 2013-2014 academic year. Herein, 376 high school teachers including 118 males, 258 females were evaluated. As a data collection tool of the study, the scale of two parts was used. The first one was a scale which included questions about collecting the teachers' personal information. The second one was 'A Scale for The Professional Ethics Principles' developed by Oxana Manolova (2011) in order to determine the teachers' opinions about their adaptation to the professional ethics principles and their colleagues' compliance with the professional ethics principles. Within this research, firstly, the frequencies and percentages of the variables, the arithmetic averages (X ̅) and standard deviations of the sub-dimensions in the scales were estimated, then the Independent Samples T-Test, the Kruskal-Wallis H Test, the Mann Whitney-U and the Paired Samples T-Test were performed, the significances were tested to the level of p<0.05. In accordance with these findings, it was stated that the teachers exactly adapted to the professional ethics principles and their colleagues widely complied with the professional ethics principles. Any significant differences were not found out in the teachers' opinions about their adaptation to the professional ethics principles concerning the school, the profession, the students in terms of the variables. The adaptation issue to the professional ethics principles relating to the society, the colleagues and the parents was found to be significant in the variable of genders. The female teachers working in the Vocational High Schools stated that they adapted to the professional ethics principles concerning the society, the colleagues and the parents more than the male teachers. The teachers' opinions about their colleagues' compliance with the professional ethics principles concerning the society, the profession and the parents showed significant differences in accordance with the variable of school kinds. The opinions of the teachers working in the Vocational High Schools, about their colleagues' compliance with the professional ethics principles concerning the society, the profession and the parents were positive rather than the teachers working in the Anatolian High Schools. Also, the teachers' opinions about their colleagues' compliance with the professional ethics principles concerning the society, the profession, the colleagues and the students showed significant differences in accordance with the variable of genders. The male teachers who working in the Anatolian High Schools had more positive opinions about their colleagues' compliance with the professional ethics principles concerning the society, the profession, the colleagues and the students than the female ones working in the Anatolian High Schools. The teachers' opinions relating to their colleagues' compliance with the professional ethics principles concerning the school and the students indicated significant differences in terms of the variable of education levels as well. Again, the graduate teachers dutied in the Vocational Schools had more positive opinions about their colleagues' compliance with the professional ethics principles concerning the school and the students rather than the master graduate teachers dutied in the Vocational Schools. Finally, the teachers' opinions about their colleagues' compliance with the professional ethics principles concerning the school and the profession showed significant differences in terms of the variable of seniorities. The opinions of the teachers who working in the Vocational Schools for 21 years and over it, about their colleagues' compliance with the professional ethics principles concerning the school and the profession were regarded as more positive ones than the others. As a result of the scale, statistical differences were found out in the opinions relating to the teachers' adaptation to the professional ethics principles and their colleagues' compliance with these ones. According to this, for measuring the teachers' behaviors about obeying with the professional ethics principles, it was concluded that there was a need of external observation, that is, of evaluations by the teachers' colleagues, the students' parents or the students.
