Abstract
Orthorexia nervosa, obsessed with healthy eating is defined as eating disorder. Orthorexia nervosa is not indicated in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). However it is more frequent between people who with developing and widespread technology. As those with a background of health education are thought to be more prone to this condition, our study has been performed to detect this condition in dietitians. This study includes 234 (91%) female and 23 (9%) male which is total of 257 dietitians working in different provinces and health agencies participated in an electronic environment. The online questionnaire includes 3-part. The Personal Information Form (Socio-demographic peculiarities, life style habits), ORTO-11 Questionnaire Inventory and Maudsley Obsessive-Compulsive Questionnaire Inventory were applied to dietitians. Average ORTO-11 score of the dietitians was 27,35±4,83, whereas their average OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) score was 11,6±6,38. Orto-11 cut-off point was taken according to the 25% range and was determined as '24'. The mean score of male participants is higher than female participants. According to this results, female participants show higher orthorectic tendencies than male participants. Although there is a difference in the point average according to gender, gender comparison results are considered to be inadequate because of the few male participiants number. This difference was not statistically significant (p>0.05). As age progresses, both obsessive behavior and obsessive compulsive disorder inclinations decline and this difference is meaningful statictically (p<0,05). In this study, the correlation between compulsive disorder and orthorexia nervosa conditions were examined in dietations. The correlation was measured as a negative correlation, but there wasn't any significant difference statistically (r= -0,113, p >0,05). As the sample group of the study is quite small, it is suggested that more studies should be performed with larger sample groups for more accurrate results. Keywords: Orthorexia nervoza, ORTO-11, Obsessive-Compulsive disorders, Eating disorders, Obsession of healthy nutrition.
