Abstract
Micromobility vehicles have emerged as a rapid and convenient alternative to meet the individual, social, and commercial transportation needs of people, especially those living in large cities. Driven by the perceptions of lower environmental impact, reduced energy consumption, economic benefits, and support for healthy lifestyles, their use is rapidly increasing worldwide. This section examines the direct and indirect impacts of micromobility vehicles on human and public health. It critically assesses to what extent public perceptions of the positive and negative health effects of micromobility vehicles align with the reality, based on scientific studies. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
