An Action Research on the of Queston Formation Technique in Developing Questioning and Critical Thinking Skills

Abstract

Bu araştırmada okul öncesi öğrencilerinin eleştirel düşünme becerilerinin geliştirilmesinde soru oluşturma tekniğinin kullanılabilirlik durumunu incelemesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden eylem araştırması deseni ile desenlenmiştir.Araştırmada okul öncesinde soruların ve eleştirel düşünme becerisinin önemine, soru oluşturma tekniğinin okul öncesi yaş grubu ile uygulanabilirliğine ve işlevselliğine ve soru oluşturma tekniği uygulanırken karşılaşılan sorunlara ve çözümlere yönelik durumlar ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu belirlenirken amaçlı örneklem yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Aynı zamanda uygulayıcı olan araştırmacı sınıfında öğrencilerinin soru üretme becerilerine ilişkin olarak çok az ya da hiç soru üretmediklerini gözlemlemiştir. Soru üretme tekniği ile soru üretme ile ilgili çalışılması gereken kendi öğrencilerini araştırmanın örneklemi olarak seçmeye karar vermiştir. Bu doğrultuda 2023-2024 eğitim öğretim yılında İstanbul ili Kartal ilçesindeki bir İBB Çocuk Etkinlik Merkezine devam eden ve benzer sosyo-ekonomik düzeydeki çevrede yaşayan 60-68 aylık toplam 11 öğrenci bu araştırmanın çalışma grubu olarak belirlenmiştir. Eylem sürecinde araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan 8 eylem planı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak görüşme formları, araştırmacı günlükleri ve Eleştirel Düşünme Becerilerine Yönelik Davranış Gözlem Formu (Tuncer, 2017) kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen veriler içerik analizi kullanılarak analiz edilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin birinci eylem planından sekizinci eylem planına kadar ürettikleri soru sayısında artış olduğu, soru türleri gruplandırıldığında öğrencilerin en çok kapalı uçlu sorular ürettiği, üretilen kapalı uçlu sorularda birinci eylem planından sekizinci eylem planına doğru azalma olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırmanın sonucunda bulgular, ilgili araştırmalar ve literatür ışığında tartışılarak bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

This study aimed to examine the usability of the question formation technique in developing the critical thinking skills of preschool students. For this purpose, the research was designed with action research pattern, one of the qualitative research methods. In the research, it was tried to reveal the importance of questions and critical thinking skills in preschool, the applicability and functionality of the question formation technique with the preschool age group, and the problems and solutions encountered while applying the question formation technique. The action process of the research was carried out in the 2023-2024 academic year with 11 students aged 60-68 months and above who attended Yuvamiz Istanbul Children's Activity Center affiliated with the IMM Children's Services Directorate. 8 action plans created by the researcher were used in the action process. Interview forms, researcher diaries and Behavior Observation Form for Critical Thinking Skills (Tuncer, 2017) were used as data collection tools in the study. The data obtained in the research were analyzed and interpreted using content analysis. As a result of the research, it was seen that there was an increase in the number of questions produced by the students from the first action plan to the eighth action plan, when the question types were grouped, the students produced mostly closed-ended questions, and there was a decrease in the closed-ended questions produced from the first action plan to the eighth action plan.
