dc.description.abstract Today the renewable energy technologies are attracting research attention more than ever as a result of the environmentally destructive influences of the fossil fuels. Because there are numerous fossil fuel reserves in the north of the Black Sea, the trend of renewable energies in this region is less than in other countries. The use of fossil fuels in this region causes an increase in both regional and global aspects of environmental pollution. The formation of the H2S in Black Sea, which is a closed sea, affects the natural life of its inhabitants and environmental flora in this region. If the H2S can be separated to produce pure hydrogen using various methods, H2S pollution in this sea will be overcome and pure hydrogen will be used in the fuel cells for alternative energy production. The amount of H2S ensures an adequate potential of energy production in multiple countries around the Black Sea. Moreover, a large amount of the world's boron reserves are in Turkey. Boron is an ideal material for hydrogen storage. Black Sea coastal countries, especially Turkey, must incline using efficient and renewable energy. Country strategies shall be issued aiming this tendency. For the realization of a more conscious use of energy in the future, education should emphasize on energy efficiency and environmental protection. Especially to create the necessary awareness by preschool and primary school students, the topic should be included in the curricula as well as in the social responsibility projects. Accordingly, this paper aims to provide an alternative approach to the energy usage of the Black Sea coastal countries, especially Turkey. In addition, awareness of energy efficiency and environmental protection in education system are described. en_US
