Z Kuşağının Ekolojik Ayak İzinin Azaltılmasına Yönelik Farkındalığın ve Çevre Bilincinin Yeşil Tüketime Etkisi: Mehmet Salih Bal Mesleki ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi Örneği (İstanbul)
Abstract
The main goal of this study is to examine the relationship between Generation Z's environmental awareness and green consumption behavior to reduce their ecological footprint. In this regard, the environmental awareness of consumers in Generation Z, the relationship between ecological footprint awareness and green consumption behavior, and the demographic characteristics of consumers in Generation Z (in terms of gender, class, income perception, previous education on environmental awareness and sustainability) were analyzed. The difference between environmental awareness, ecological footprint awareness and green consumption behavior was examined. The data obtained through a face-to-face survey from 334 students studying at Mehmet Salih Bal Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, which continues its education activities in the Maltepe district of the Anatolian Side of Istanbul, was examined and analyzed with the Structural Equality Model. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was concluded that ecological footprint awareness has a positive effect on green purchasing behavior and environmental awareness has a positive significant effect on green purchasing behavior. In terms of coefficients, it has been determined that environmental awareness is more effective on green purchasing behavior than ecological footprint awareness. As a result of the group differences analysis of the research, it was determined that green purchasing behavior was significantly higher in women than in men in terms of gender groups. It was concluded that there is no significant difference between students' environmental awareness, ecological footprint awareness and green purchasing behavior in terms of grade levels. In terms of income level, the significant difference became evident in the green purchasing dimension. In the group difference analysis conducted in terms of the Status of Receiving Training on Environmental Awareness and Sustainability, it was concluded that green purchasing behavior was significantly higher in participants who had received training on environmental awareness in the past. Key Words: Ecological Footprint, Environmental Awareness, Green Consumption, Generation Z
