Üniversite öğrencilerinin alkol kullanım düzeyinin yordanmasında, Geştalt temas biçimleri, temas kurma kapasitesi ve benlik saygısının rolü

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı alkol kullanımında benlik saygısı, temas biçimleri ve temas kurma kapasitesi arasında anlamlı bir ilişki olup olmadığını incelemektedir. Araştırmaya 481 kadın, 112 erkek olmak üzere toplamda 593 öğrenci katılmıştır. Çalışmada katılımcılara Rosenberg benlik saygısı, Michigan alkolizm tarama testi, Geştalt temas kurma kapasitesi ölçeği, Geştalt temas biçimleri yeniden düzenlenmiş formu ve kişisel bilgi formu verilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklem grubunu Türkiye'nin çeşitli üniversitelerinde ve bölümlerinde okuyan ön lisans, lisans ve yüksek lisans öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada yakın ilişki, diyalog, kendine döndürme, saptırma ve temas kurma kapasitesi toplam puanlarının alkol kullanım düzeylerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde farklılaştığı belirlenmiştir. Yakın ilişki, diyalog ve temas kurma kapasitesi toplam puanlarının alkol kötüye kullanan grupta daha yüksek bulunurken, saptırma ve kendine döndürme temas biçimlerinin bağımlılık geliştiren grupta daha fazla kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada benlik saygısı ile alkol kullanım düzeyi arasında bir ilişki bulunamamıştır. Bunun yanı sıra aşırı temasın alkol kullanım düzeyini pozitif yönde yordadığı ve empatinin alkol kullanım düzeyini negatif yönde yordadığı bulunmuştur. Bu çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlar, özellikle üniversite öğrencileri arasında alkol kötüye kullanma açısından riskli grupta temas kurma örüntülerini ele almanın önemli olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Böylece gençlerin ileride yaşadıkları olumsuz deneyimler karşısında baş etme yöntemi olarak alkol kullanmalarını engellemek mümkün olacaktır. Sonuçlar Geştalt kuramı ve literatürdeki araştırma sonuçları bağlamında tartışılmıştır.

The aim of this study is to examine whether there is a significant relationship between alcohol use severity, self-esteem, contact styles and contact capacity. A total of 593 students, including 481 female and 112 male, participated in the research. In the study, participants were given Rosenberg self-esteem, Michigan alcoholism screening test, Gestalt contact capacity scale, Gestalt contact styles-revised form and personal information form. The sample group consists of undergraduate and graduate students studying at various universities and departments in Turkey. In this study, it was determined that the total scores of close relationship, dialogue, reflection, deflection and Gestalt contact capacity scores differed statistically significantly according to alcohol use levels. While the total scores of close relationship, dialogue and contact capacity were found to be higher in the group with alcohol abuse disorder, it was detected that deflection and retroflection contact styles were utilized more in the group with alcohol dependency. In this study, no relationship was found between self-esteem and alcohol use levesl. Additionally, excessive contact have been demonstrated to predict the levesl of alcohol use in a positive way, while empathy predicts the levels of alcohol use in a negative way. The results obtained in this study revealed that it is important to address Gestalt contact styles in the group at risk for alcohol dependency, especially among university youth. Thus, it will be possible to prevent young people from using alcohol as a coping method against negative experiences in the future. The results are discussed in the context of Gestalt theory and research results in the literature.
