A Clinical Observational Prospective Study(Turkiye Klinikleri, 2020) Demircan Karadag, Sinem; Karadag, Cihan; Senturk, Mehmet Baki; Turgut, AbdulkadirObjective: Endometrial biopsy is a pain-related gynecological procedure. The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy of rectal indomethacin and intrauterine lidocaine on pain control during endometrial sampling. Material and Methods: This clinical observational prospective trial was conducted in 120 patients with the complaint of abnormal uterine bleeding who presented at Istanbul Medeniyet University Goztepe Training and Research Hospital, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, between January 2017 and June 2017. Patients were divided into two groups. The rectal group had 64 patients, to whom indomethacin was given as a local anesthetic. The intrauterine group had 56 patients, for whom lidocaine was the local anesthetic used. Endometrial biopsy was performed by using a no. 4 Karman cannula. The primary goal of measurement was pain intensity assessed by a visual analog scale before, during, and 10 minutes after the procedure. Results: There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in mean age, body mass index, weight and median levels of gravidity, parity and abortion. The median pain scores of the two groups during and 10 minutes after the procedure were similar (p>0.05). Conclusion: In this study, rectal indomethacin was shown to be equal to intrauterine anesthesia for reducing pain during the endometrial biopsy. Rectal indomethacin may be an alternative drug to relieve pain during gynecological procedures. Further researches with larger numbers of patients are needed to confirm our findings.Article Citation Count: 0The classical adiabatic constancy of $PV^{\\mu}$ for an ideal gas, can be shown to be a quantum mechanical occurrence, which yields the particular value of the constant, in question(2012) Yarman, Nuh Tolga; Yarman, Tolga; Korfalı, Önder; Enerji Sistemleri Mühendisliği / Energy Systems EngineeringBu makalede, asırlardır bilinen gaz yasaları ile, bir kapta hapsolmuş olup, birbirleriyle etkileşmedebulunmayan parçacıkların oluşturduğu ideal gazın kuvantum mekaniksel tasviri arasında, bütünsel bir bağkurulmaktadır. The nature of bronchiectasis may have negative impact on psychological status, however it is poorly studied in relation to clinical indices, particularly the severity of disease. Primary aim of this study is to detect depression and anxiety in patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis and to evaluate its relationship with disease severity indexes. Materials and Methods: Ninety (male/female= 37/53; median age 45 years) stable non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectatic adult patients were enrolled into this study. Dyspnea scores, number of exacerbations and hospital admissions within the last year, body-mass index, pulmonary function tests, sputum cultures, bronchiectasis disease severity indexes (BSI and FACED) were assessed. Anxiety and depression were evaluated by using the Turkish version of the hospital anxiety and depression scale questionaire. Results: Anxiety was diagnosed in 30% of patients and depression was diagnosed in 41% of the participants. Female participants had significantly higher rates of depression (55% vs. 22%; p= 0.002). Exacerbation rates within the last year were higher among the subjects with anxiety, moreover, patients with depression had shorter duration of disease. 851 and FACED severity indexes increased with longer duration of disease (5.6 +/- 5.0 yrs in mild group vs. 10.1 +/- 9.2 yrs in moderate-to-severe group, p= 0.035 and 5.7 +/- 5.4 yrs in mild group vs. 12.1 +/- 9.7 yrs in moderate-to-severe group, p= 0.001, respectively), however, anxiety and depression were not related with BSI and FACED severity indexes. Conclusion: Patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis have an increased risk for depression and anxiety. Duration of disease and higher exacerbation rate are related with psychological status and indexes increased with longer duration of disease. Lady detection and taking the necessary measures to improve the psychological state is necessary for the overall management of these patients.Article Citation Count: 1Comparison of percutaneous access and open femoral cutdown in elective endovascular aortic repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms;(Baycinar Medical Publishing, 2022) Akbulut,M.; Ak,A.; Arslan,Ö.; Akardere,Ö.F.; Karakoç,A.Z.; Gume,S.; Tuncer,M.A.Background: The aim of this study was to compare postoperative outcomes of percutaneous access and femoral cutdown methods for elective bifurcated endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. Methods: Between November 2013 and September 2020, a total of 152 patient (135 males, 17 females; mean age: 70.6±6, range, 57 to 87 years) who underwent endovascular repair due to infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm were retrospectively analyzed. According to femoral access type, the patients were grouped into two groups as the total percutaneous femoral access and open cutdown femoral access endovascular repair. Intra and postoperative data were compared, including operative time, amount of contrast media, bleeding requiring transfusion, return to the operating room, access vessel complications, wound complications, and overall length of hospital stay. Results: Eighty-seven (57.2%) femoral cutdown access repair and 65 (42.8%) percutaneous femoral access repair cases were evaluated in the study. The two groups were comparable in terms of demographic and clinical characteristics (p>0.05), except for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which was more frequent in the percutaneous access group (p=0.014). After adjustment, age, diabetes mellitus, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and obesity were not predictive of percutaneous access failure. Percutaneous femoral access was observed as the only preventing factor for wound infection (odds ratio=0.166, 95% confidence interval: 0.036-0.756; p=0.021). Conclusion: Although femoral access preference does not affect mortality and re-intervention rates, percutaneous endovascular repair reduces operation time, hospital stay, and wound site complications compared to femoral artery exposures. © 2022. In most cases the need for correction is based on evident social adaptive difficulties and impairment of worth living sense. Thoracic scoliosis is seen either with congenital chest wall deformities de novo, or after costal cartilage harvesting, minimal invasive or open correction of chest wall deformities. Anterior chest wall deformities can be put under 5 main categories: Pectus Excavatum, Pectus Carinatum, Poland Syndrome, sternal defects, thoracic deformities seen in diffuse skeletal disorders.Conservative treatment methods such as using corset are manipulated for starting treatment in childhood and specifically in pectus carinatums. Nuss technique or modifications that are in invasive (Ravitch chondroplasty) or minimal invasive techniques are carried out on elderly people and under the circumstances when conservative methods are unsuccessful. Also vacuum waist technique is one of the treatment methods used in selected cases or for the treatment of the people who do not accept the operation. In this collection; clinical findings of congenital chest deformities, its classification, embryology, pathophysiology and diagnostic techniques that are mainly used are stated. Also, in company with changing literature; operation indications and traditional surgical correction treatment methods with less invasive new methods are reviewed.Article Citation Count: 3Cryberchondria Level in Women with Heart Disease and Affecting Factors;(AVES, 2020) Güleşen,A.; Beydaǧ,K.D.Objective: This study was conducted to determine the cyberchondria levels of women being treated for heart disease in training and research hospital and the factors affecting these levels. Materials and Methods: The population of this descriptive and cross-sectional study was composed of 331 female patients, who presented to the Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery services of Koşuyolu High Specialized Training and Research Hospital between August 2018 to October 2018. Moreover, the patients who were diagnosed with heart disease were literate, spoke Turkish, and volunteered to participate in the study. Before the sample was selected, data collection was continued until the total number of the sample was met with the patients who were in compliance with the study criteria and willing to participate in the study. Research data were collected by a descriptive data collection form and by the Cybercondria Severity Scale (CST). For the evaluation of the data, number-percentage calculations, the Mann Whitney-U test, the Anova test, and a t-test were used. Results: About 38.7% of women who participated in the study expressed that they searched their diseases on the internet, while 75.8% of them expressed that they watched health related programs. About 8.8% of the participants stated that they underwent extra tests without the physician's recommendations, and 12.7% of them used medication without the physician's recommendation. A total of 25.4% of them believe that the information on the internet was correct and 36% of them said that they sometimes made decisions about their health issues according to that information. The average CST score of the women was found to be 68.00±27.04. An increase in the anxiety related to behaviors such as online searching and self-evaluation about health issues was determined at a low level. No statistically significant difference was found between the participants' marital status, watching health-related programs on TV, taking tests and medicines without the physician's recommendations, and the CST average score (p>0.05). The anxiety of the participants who were over and under 50 years old, had graduated from high school or a higher level, were employees, whose income levels were at the middle and higher level, had children, had never been operated, had been diagnosed with a disease for less than a year, and believed that the information on the internet was correct and made a decision according to this information, was increased due to the online searching and self-evaluation behaviors about health issues (p<0.05). Conclusion: Nurses should take an active role in training patients who are being treated for heart disease, by eliminating the need for information and directing patients to reliable information sources. @ Archives of Health Science and Research. All rights reserved.Article Citation Count: 0Determination of Spiritual Well-Being and Hope Level of Patients Undergoing Open Heart Surgery: A Descriptive Study;(Ortadou Reklam Tanitim Yayincilik Turizm Egitim Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., 2022) Çiçekli,N.; Çalişkan,I.Objective: This study was carried out in a descriptive type in order to determine the spiritual well-being and hope level of the patients who will undergo open-heart surgery. Two patients exhibiting thoracic spine pathologies (traumatic disc herniation and thoracic stenosis) that did not necessarily require surgery using rigid systems were selected for stabilization using the dynamic system. The patients exhibited a decrease in postoperative visual analog scale scores, and the follow-up period remained uneventful. The results of this report suggest that dynamic systems can be used as an alternative to rigid systems for treatment of thoracic spine pathologies. © 2020 Journal of Turkish Spinal Surgery. Drama öncesi ve sonrası uygulanan yaratıcı hayal gücü test sonuçlarına göre, drama programının çocukların yaratıcı hayal güçlerinin gelişiminde olumlu bir etkisi vardır. Dramanın farklı yaş gruplarına göre etkisi incelendiğinde, hazırlanan drama programı 13 yaş çocuklarına göre 10 yaş çocuklarında daha fazla etkilidirArticle Citation Count: 0THE EFFECT OF DUAL TASK TRAINING ON STATIC AND DYNAMIC BALANCE OF OLDER ADULTS HAVING INSTITUTIONAL LIVING: RANDOMIZED TRIAL(Gunes Kitabevi Ltd Sti, 2018) Saripinarli, Begum; Inal, Habibe SerapIntroduction: In the presented study it was aimed to observe the effects of dual-task on static and dynamic balance and to present if static and dynamic balance training under dual-task performance effect the static and dynamic balance ability positively among the older adults having an institutional living. Materials and Method: Fifty volunteer individuals (72.02 +/- 6.60 years of age, ranging between 64 and 91; 12% women, n=6,88% men, n=44) took part in this study. Evaluations as Barthel Activity of Daily Living Index, Berg Balance Scale and Berg Balance Scale Under Dual-Task Performance were performed both before and after trainings. The participants were divided into two groups by computer-generated randomization table: Group A (n=26, number of sessions=5) and Group B (n=24, number of sessions=7). Results: Balance score was not affected by dual-task performance, and no differences were found between groups (p>0.05). For groups, balance score both with and without dual-task performance showed positive improvement after training (p=0.00). Conclusion: Training had positive effects for both group's balance with and without dual-task performance, but not affected by the session numbers. Physiotherapists should prefer 5 training instead of 6,7 or 8. Yet it could be cost-effective by providing important health benefits, time gains, labor force at relatively low cost. Besides, the study offers standardized flow for both assessment and training on balance under dual-task performance for the older adult population.
