Article Citation Count: 0The effects of a single high-dose injection of vitamin-D on healing of condylar fractures in osteoporotic rats(2019) Meral, Deniz Gökçe; Uğur MERCAN; Osman KELAHMETOĞLU; Yonca Betil KABAK; Deniz Gokce MERAL; Ağız,Diş ve Çene Cerrahisi / Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial SurgeryAim: In this study we have tried to show the effects of a singlehigh-dose ınjection of vitamin d on healing of condylar fractures in osteoporotic rats.Materials and method: This study included sixteen femalewistar rats. All rats were overiectomized. Osteoporotic ratswere randomly divided into two groups of eight animals/group. Group D animals received a single high dose of vitamin D (50.000 IU/kg) intraperitoneally and group C (control)animals received saline (0.05 mL) intraperitoneally. All injections were given immediately after condylar fracture. All ratswere euthanized after 28 days, examined histopathologicaland immunohistochemical. Results: Histopathological and immunohistochemical evaluations were done. Histopathological scores between groupD and C were found statistically significant. TGFβ1 and osteopentin levels in group D were found higher than group C.Conclusion: We have determined that a single high-dose injection of vitamin D given immediately after surgery increasedTGFβ and osteopontin levels and enhanced new bone formation at condylar fractures of osteoporotic rats.Article Citation Count: 0Ekstraoral fistül: Bir olgu sunumu(2018) Handan ERSEV; Vasfiye IŞIKOdontojenik fistüller, pulpa nekrozuna bağlı olarak gelişen patolojik oluşumlardır. Fistülün intraoral veya ekstraoral bölgeyeaçılması dişin bulunduğu bölgeye, enflamasyon tarafındankortikal kemikte oluşan perforasyonun lokalizasyonuna bağlıdır. Özellikle ekstraoral fistüller deri lezyonları, tüberküloz, osteomiyelit gibi birçok farklı oluşumla karıştırılmakta ve bununsonucunda hastalara etkisiz tedaviler uygulanabilmektedir.Bu olgu sunumu, alt çene kesici dişlerden kaynak aldığı tespitedilen ve çene ucu bölgesinden drene olan 2 adet ekstraoralfistül vakasının kök kanal tedavisi uygulamasının ardından 1senelik takiplerini içermektedir.Article Citation Count: 0Qualitative and quantitative assesment of initial bacterial plaque formation on different prosthetic restorative materials(2019) Nesrin ANIL; Ali Murat KÖKATAim: The aim of this study was to determine the structure ofbacterial plaque qualitatively and quantitatively and to evaluate the effect of restorative material variation on pellicle composition and bacterial adhesion.Materials and Method: Titanium, Au-Ag-Pd alloy, Ni-Cr alloy, an all-ceramic system and a feldspathic porcelain systemwere used to evaluate bacterial adhesion and plaque composition characteristics. Acquired pellicle was analyzed by usingsodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE). Single colony isolated groups on samples wereidentified by using BBL-Crystal System. Statistical analysiswas performed by using Kruskal Wallis Analysis of Variance(ANOVA).Results: Acquired pellicle analysis by SDS-PAGE revealedamylase content for each group except feldspathic porcelain.Significant qualitative and quantitative differences werefound among the materials for bacterial plaque content. Microorganism types varied most for feldspathic porcelain surface. The least variety of microorganisms were found on Cr-Ni.The lowest adhesion was observed on feldspathic porcelain. Conclusion: Initial bacterial plaque shows material specificdifferences for compositional structure. Bacterial adhesionfor each material shows internal compositional variations.Streptococci were found to be most revealed species for allmaterials studied.
