Abstract
Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of an office bleaching agent on composite resin samples stored in different solutions. Methods: Restorative material Filtek™ Z550 Nano Hybrid Universal was used. A polytetrafluoroethylene mold having a diameter of 13 mm and a thickness of 1.5mm was used. A total of 40 samples were prepared. The restorative materials were colored in 5 different solutions, water, tea, nescafe, cola and red wine for 30 days. Opalescence® Boost Office Type Whitening (40% HP) was used to whiten the colored composite materials. Results: Water and cola together; Tea and instant coffee together and wine all have a higher average coloration value than all of them. The average staining values obtained from the bleaching process were found to be different in all solutions. The average amount of coloring obtained in the bleaching process only decreased on average in wine. The average amount of all tinting obtained in the other solutions was smaller than the average amount obtained as a result of the bleaching process(p<0.05). Conclusion: Bleaching is effective for color-rich solutions such as wine while color rendering is achieved in composite resins, while in non-colored composite resins, the color is darker or opaque. © 2021, Selcuk University.
